A Backyard Golden Hour Film with Jules & Gabby

Minneapolis lifestyle videography capturing woman smiling at her dog

Families come in all shapes and sizes — and this one is perfect.

Jules invited me over to her backyard for a simple evening at home with her dog, Gabby. No big event. No milestone. Just a glass of wine, golden hour light and a pup who happily munched on green beans like they were a five-star snack.

And honestly? That’s what made it special.

Capturing the everyday moments

We spent the evening hanging out in the backyard, letting things unfold naturally. Gabby trotted around, Jules laughed easily, and the warm light made everything feel calm and unrushed.

There’s something beautiful about filming life as it actually is. Not staged. Not overly planned. Just real connection and personality.

Gabby’s quirks.

Jules’ laughter.

The small interactions that define their everyday life together.

Those are the moments that become meaningful memories later.

Video isn’t just for big milestones

Video sessions don’t have to be reserved for weddings, birthdays or major life events. Sometimes they’re most powerful when they document a season of life exactly as it is.

A beloved pet.

A favorite backyard.

A routine that feels ordinary now but won’t always be the same.

These films become time capsules — little windows back into a life that keeps changing.

A little whimsy goes a long way

This session was lighthearted and relaxed. We leaned into the silliness, the sweetness and the simple joy of spending time together.

Because not every film needs a big reason.

Sometimes it’s enough to say, “This matters to me right now.”

And that’s always reason enough to capture it.
