Some weddings feel like they belong in a different time — soft, romantic and a little bit whimsical.
Clare and Tanner’s intimate wedding at Aster Cafe’s River Room in Minneapolis had exactly that feeling. With views of the Mississippi River and the Minneapolis skyline just outside the windows, their day felt both grounded in place and quietly transportive.
An intimate setting by the river
The River Room at Aster Cafe is made for smaller weddings. Tables filled with close friends and family created a warm, connected atmosphere where every guest felt part of the day.
The setting did a lot of the work — natural light, river views and the city just beyond — but it was the people in the room that made it feel complete.
Handmade details that made it personal
Clare, along with her family members, designed the table decor and florals themselves. Every arrangement, every detail carried a personal touch.
It felt intentional without being overdone. Thoughtful without feeling staged.
Those kinds of details don’t just look good — they mean something.
A dress straight out of a storybook
Clare’s dress set the tone immediately.
It was semi-unconventional, with a soft floral pattern and a flowing, whimsical shape that felt effortlessly romantic. There was a definite “Bridgerton” energy to it — timeless, a little dramatic and completely her.
She also did her own hair and makeup, which added to the overall feeling of ease and authenticity. Nothing felt overproduced. It felt like Clare.
Moments along the Mississippi River
We stepped outside for photos and video along the river, taking advantage of the natural beauty surrounding the venue.
The movement of the water, the skyline in the distance and the calmness of the space created a perfect contrast to the warmth inside.
It gave the day room to breathe.
A dance floor full of energy
For a smaller wedding, the celebration and dance floor felt big. Guests showed up fully, filling the space with laughter, movement and a kind of joy that carried through the entire night.
Ending the night in the rain
Toward the end of the night, we stepped outside again — this time into a light rain.
Instead of running from it, Clare and Tanner leaned in.
There’s something about a little rain on a wedding day that strips everything back. No expectations, no pressure — just two people, completely present with each other.
They were relaxed, happy and fully in it.
Blissed out in the best way.
It ended up being one of the most beautiful moments of the entire day.
A wedding that felt like them
Clare and Tanner’s wedding wasn’t about scale or spectacle.
It was about intention.
About atmosphere.
About creating a space where love felt close and tangible.
A riverfront room, handmade details, a dress that felt like a story and a quiet moment in the rain.
Simple. Romantic. Completely theirs.
